Immediate Post-Op Care (First 24–48 Hours)
- Avoid disturbing the surgical area with your tongue or fingers.
- Minor bleeding is typical; applying gauze for 30–60 minutes helps manage it.
- Apply an ice pack in 20-minutes-on/20-minutes-off cycles to reduce swelling.
- Stick to soft, cool foods; avoid hot foods, alcohol, and straws.
Oral Hygiene Instructions
Starting after the first day:
- Use a soft-bristled toothbrush, switching to an electric toothbrush after one week, for gentle cleaning.
- Rinse 2–3 times daily with a saltwater solution.
- Use floss threaders or interdental brushes to clean under the bridge.
- Avoid alcohol-based mouth rinses unless prescribed.
Dietary Guidelines
- Eat soft, non-sticky foods like eggs, mashed potatoes, soups, and yogurt during the first week.
- Eliminate hard, crunchy, spicy, or sticky foods.
- Stay hydrated with water; avoid carbonated or sugary beverages.
Habits to Avoid
Avoid smoking, vaping, using your teeth as tools, and teeth grinding — ask us about a night guard if grinding is a concern.
Follow-Up Care
