5 Tips for Healthy, Beautiful Teeth

A few consistent habits make most of the difference in long-term dental health. Here are five worth building into your routine.

1. Brush Twice a Day

Brush after breakfast and before bed, for a full two minutes each time. Consistency matters more than intensity.

2. Floss Daily

Flossing removes plaque and food particles a toothbrush can’t reach, and it’s one of the most effective ways to prevent gum disease. Aim for once a day, ideally after brushing.

3. Stay Hydrated

Water helps rinse away food particles and supports healthy saliva production, which naturally protects your teeth. Sugary and acidic drinks — soda, juice, energy drinks — do the opposite, so keep them to a minimum, especially during hot Henderson and Las Vegas summers.

4. Eat for Your Teeth, Not Just Your Taste Buds

A few nutrients do a lot of work for oral health:

  • Calcium — low-fat dairy and fortified soy milk support strong teeth and bone
  • Phosphorus — found in eggs, fish, lean meat, and nuts, and works alongside calcium
  • Vitamin C — from citrus, peppers, and leafy greens, supports healthy gums

5. Get a Checkup Every Six Months

Good habits at home reduce risk, but routine exams are what catch problems early — before they become bigger, more expensive treatments.
